8/1 Thursday Hike (Day 6)
We took the small 4-mile loop of the trail. It was not a normal tourist trail. It was a more natural unpaved trail. I took a bunch of photos of stuff we saw along the trail. The trail followed a stream for a good distance, so there are a bunch of stream shots. Since it was damp from the stream, there are some mushroom shots too.
Here is the sign at the start of the trail

This is a map of the trail. It is very hard to read, but there was nothing much we could do about the reflections.

Our minds slipped a little in the gutter when we saw this one. If you slip a little in the gutter, what does it look like? Sorry, but I couldn't help it.

He posed for us, so we would have felt bad to not take a photo of him.

These were huge, but there is nothing for perspective to go along with them.

If you let your mind slip a little in the gutter again, what does this one look like?

Along the trail we found these metal parts. I figured they were from an old wagon or something that. I guessed it did not make it through when hoarse & buggies were passing through the mountains. Through looking I think they could have been the metal ends of wooden axles and the receiver part that the axle would fit into. I think a couple of wagons may have died in this area. It would be very rough to haul anything through, so I could see it happening. Another option is as you read further through the day today, you see the military went through this area. It may have been from them too. The only argument against that is there are no weapons in the stack o' parts.

It was very hot and humid on our walk, and we sure could have used some more water along the way. We had some, but not enough. We were both ready to stop by the end of the trail.
