7/30 Tuesday Morning (Day 4)

Pat drove for a short time this morning. We had been splitting the day half & half as far as driving. I guess maybe it was because it was my birthday so she let me drive a little more. We found a couple of great twisty roads, with hardly a straight stretch in them. Some switchbacks had a 4' or 5' rise at the inner radius. It was crazy.

Here is one of the switchbacks. You can tell you are looking out the passenger window by seeing the side mirror. You can also see the switchback heading the other direction. By the time you make the 180° turnaround, the road is already over your head. They had some pretty drastic altitude changes.

We went up to one peak & walked up the tower at the peak to check out the view. We didn't stay there long since it was lightening very close and raining. I thought we should probably leave quickly so we did not get zapped on the way down. I took a photo of the GPS in the car so you can see the altitude at this point.

On the way down the other side of the mountain, the road turned to gravel. We kept going anyway since the car was already dirty from the rain. We could not believe the roads & shacks we saw up there. No electric and out houses everywhere, even at the churches. I didn't get any photos of the outhouses, but I did get some gravel twisties.

Here is one of those sharp switchbacks going down.

Here is one going up.

Up & Down

And around & around

And back & forth

Thought this was a cool little cloud nestled in the hill
