We arrived and pulled into the lot. We where one of the only cars in the lot. We walked into the visitors area and where almost the only people in there, which made sense I guess considering the lot. I thought we where going to be the only people on the tour, but we where not. There must have been people outside on the trail waiting for the tour. Even so, there where not many people. Because of that, we could ride anywhere on the Jeep tour that we wanted. So Pat got the passenger seat, and I got the back of the Jeep. Everyone else road in the trailer.

The tour started and we headed to the enterance. Once there Jack (Our tour guide) showed us how the cave was powered when it first got power inside. For power it used a steam powered generator outside the cave.

Steam Generator

We then entered the cave and road the jeep train on the tour. This cave is the only cave in the US that you ride through, and only 1 of 4 in the world. We got to deepest part of the cave and we saw a little movie that gave some history that showed singers in the cave. They used to have country music performances in the cave. Sorta the early Branson I guess. When at the stage, the tour stopped and a lady asked if she could get out and walk around. Jack said sure, and she walked around the stage.

We all reboarded and the tour was on again. Once the tour was over, and we exited the cave, we got to see the little hole that was where the cave was discovered. A hunters dog entered the cave chasing after a bird. The hunter stuck his head in the cave looking for his dog and discovered the cave. This small hole was where the cave was first entered. The first exploeres where an athletics club of ladies. They walked in, explored, and signed their names. We could not believe how small the enterance was. It was very tiny. I didn’t take a photo of it because it was sorta back in a recessed area, so it would not have been visible. So I didn’t want to waste the wear and tear on the exposure button of my camera.
