Day 6 (Wednesday)

We got up & I took a couple of shots from the drive of the motel as we where getting ready. Across the street is a drive-in. Not sure if it is still working or is closed, but it sure looked like it was still open.

As we left we started off driving S & E. We drove until we got down to 1/2 a tank of gas and decided to stop. We figured we better start a search 93 octane while we still had half a tank to search around with as it can be hard to find. We had to try a few stations and keep finding pumps with everything except what we needed. I could have used 92 or 93 octane, but this is what I found. Click the photo and check it out.

We finally got down to the scenic highway that we where trying to get to towards the end of yesterday. I guess this is the reason it is scenic…have you seen a yard display like this anywhere before?

We even drove over the twin bridges.

A little further along the way we saw a dam & fish hatchery, so we stopped. First we walked up to a little pier that had a coin machine to get fish food out and toss to the fish. I looked on the pier and saw there was quite a bit of food that people dropped. I figured the fish wouldn’t know if I paid for it or picked it up and gave it to the. So I picked it up and tossed it in. I can’t believe how crazy they went for it. Then we walked along the fish runs to see all the babies. There where fish from 3” that they just got the day before up to some large fish. They where all rainbow trout. Just as we where leaving they where feeding the fish. It was crazy how the fish went nuts.

One of the last things we did was as we where driving along I saw a white Miata that had the front bumper missing and the pass side quarter panel missing. Pat said she saw a blue one. So we turned around and went back to check for sure. Turns out we where both right. There where two Miatas there. So we got out and looked at them and they were a 96 (repainted blue) and a 97. So we looked at them for a bit, and then we saw another one off in the distance. We walked over to it, and along the way, pat looked in the shop (it was a used car lot & car parts lot) and saw 2 more. Hmmm… We walked over the the one we saw in the distance and looked at it for a minute, and I saw another one in the distance. We walked over to it, and saw another one. On the way to it, we saw a Miata engine laying on the ground. We looked at it and then walked over to the next Miata. Then we saw another…and another…and another…and another. They where everywhere. On the way back we saw some more engines…and batteries…and more engines. So we walked over to the shop and the guy came out. We ended up talking to him for about 3 hours. As we where talking, one of his friends stopped because he saw some different Miatas out front. Turns out he has a Miata and his girlfriend has one too. We talked about all kinds of Miata stuff and then exchanged info and we left.

Now it was 7:30 and we where on the search for a motel. We finally found one and then went on the search for food. We found a backyard grill during our search for a motel and we liked it last time we ate at one. So we started searching for it. Across from the motel was a backyard grill, but it did not have indoor dinning. It was not the one we first saw, and went on the search for it. We finally found and ate. It was so good we ate to much L and then headed back J
