I thought this water tower looked like a huge nail in the ground, so I had to get a picture |

Ha...Madison Co. We got around.
We followed this chicken truck for a few miles. There where chicken feathers floating past us as we drove :)
Now Kingston? We keep going crazy distances & then coming back home. Kingston is only a few miles from my house.
Sweet stripes...& you can see the ghost checkers & flames :)
We then stopped in Kingston, MO for lunch. It was a neat little town. The picture below shows the entire downtown area. There is a pavilion in the center with park benches under it, then the entire area is surrounded with blacktop with stores all around, so it makes a square. This shot is a panorama of the town. If you click it, it will enlarge so you can scroll left & right as if you where standing in one place & turning your head. It was really cool :) |

As we where waiting for our order to come, I was sitting facing the windows. I first saw a blue Miata come around the corner and started to say there is a Miata. Then another came and another. I realized it was one of the other groups of Miatas had just showed up. It was totally unplanned, but we all ended up in the same place. I guess we both decided the roads in this area look good and we had better go check them out. They already ate, but the got a drink and sat and talked with us for a while. As we where talking, a lady & her family came in and asked us about the cars. It turns out she grew up in the Chicagoland area and talked to us for quite a while. She gave us some tips on more roads to check out. The other group of Miatas finished their drinks & left. Once we finished our Lunch we headed out too. Henry & Sue headed back to the cabin, and Hank, Cyndie, Pat & I continued our drive in the with the new suggestions from the lady we met. |

This is a close up of one of the store. I thought it was neat that it was called Grandpa's, so I got a picture.
We just got on the road came across the other group of Miata parked along side the road. Well, not all the Miatas where there, one was gone to get parts. After talking to them to see what happened, we went to check the car. The alternator belt came off, & the other car went to get a new belt. I walked back to my car & I could smell smoke & see smoke coming up from the car out of the parking break & cup holder/ash tray. Since the grass along the side of the road was tall, dry, & my car was hot, it was smoking the grass under the car. It made me wonder at first though :)
As we where looking at his car and deciding what to do, a police car pulled up and offered help. We told him the problem and the direction the other car went, & he said that was probably the best bet to get a new belt. There was nothing he could do, so he left. We figured that as long as we where there waiting we may as well get the car ready for the new belt. This car had a supercharger on it, and since I knew the supercharger (it's the same one that's on my car) I would take everything off & all we would have to do when he got here was put everything back together. As I took the remaining belt off (Supercharger, power steering, & air) I looked at what happened. The pivot had it's nut come loose and fall off the bolt. Since the nut was gone, the bolt started to vibrate out of the hole. Once it came out of the hole far enough, it rubbed on the belt. The wore the belt and put stress on it until the belt broke. So we put everything back together & he was on his way. He will have to get a new nut for the bolt when he gets home, but we think everything will last until he gets there. Once repaired, we where all on our way again. |

Had to get a picture of the "Hillbilly Cabin" as we passed. We took the picture on the fly, so it is a little blurry.
Along the way, we saw a used Miata for sale in a used car lot. You don't see that much around these areas, so we got a picture.
Had to get a picture of this as this is the kind of sign we are in search of.
Greeter Dog!

A good sign to see :)

We were not to happy to find this road. The twisty road we were on turned to gravel. I figured we could drive slow and it would be no problem. And it wasn't until this truck passed us going the other direction. He was flyin' and flippin shit off his tires like crazy. He it me with a rock and gave me my first rock chip :(
