Day 8 (Saturday)

First thing I had to do was get a shot of the Motel in the morning. We did not know it was by water, and I'm not sure why I did not get a shot of the water.

We got started early and left for Mammoth Caverns. We had breakfast along the way at Glasgow, KY, a town we were passin' through. We could not believe the place. It looked like a place from the past, but it was good. As we continued driving we went by Scott's Discount Grocery, so we had to take shot of it for Scott Frickie.

As we got close to the cave, we entered the tourist area. They had all the normal tourist stuff, but then we went by a place that had an Alpine slide. I looked as we passed and it was tiny so I didn't stop. Then we came up to Kentucky Action Park and you could see it off in the distance up the hill. I pulled over because I wanted to check it out. We looked at all the other stuff at the park, and it looked pretty old, and like they had been having it tough with not many visitors. But, the Alpine slide still looked good. So I asked Pat if she had ever been on one before and she said no. So I asked if she wanted to try it and she said she was up for it. So we went, and it was a blast. I didn't get any photos because it would have been hard to shoot ourselves, but here is the photo they had on their site.

We continued on and made it to Mammoth Cave. It was top down all the way there, but once there we looked at the skies as we where parking, we decided to put the top up. It was a good thing too. It cut loose while inside :(

We looked around and decided to take the Historic tour.

Once the Historic tour was complete and we made it back to the ranger station. While trying to decide what to do, a ranger suggested we take the Frozen Niagara tour, and it was leaving in 5 minutes. So we ran over to sign up for it, and then to the bus to take to the tour.

When we left the cave we started to head North to start our trip home. We left the top up as it did not look good when we left. As we drove though, it looked more and more like we could put it down. We just left it up though as while I was driving I was not sure and did not feel like getting drenched again just before stopping for the night. We were also trying to decide where to eat and stay for the night. We thought we could stay at a place we stayed at last year. On the way we finally found a place to eat, and next door was a motel. So we ate and checked the place next door, but they were full. So we started to head to the place from last year, but about a block down the road we found another motel. They had a room, so we stayed there. We unpacked everything, and then I was going to download my pictures. Only problem was I could not find the camera. We looked everywhere but could not find it. I went through the car twice and then the room. Still couldn't find it so I had Pat look. She couldn't find it either, so I tried to think of the last place I remembered it. Then we looked some more. I finally found it in the car stuck in a corner behind the roll bar. I thought sure it was gone.
